The University of Perpetual Help, College of Law welcomes former Supreme Court Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeals Conrado M. Vasquez, Jr. and Associate Justice Minita Chico-Nazario as the new deans for Binan and Las Pinas campuses, respectively.

Justice Vasquez has an Associate in Arts degree from the University of the Philippines and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Manuel L. Quezon University.

He was councilor (1963) and vice mayor (1968-1971) of Binan, Laguna. He was also the company lawyer of FilHomes Realty Development until 1980.

His judiciary career began in 1986 when he was appointed as Presiding Judge of Branch 118, Regional Trial Court of Pasay City. He was promoted to Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals in 1994. Justice Vasquez had been acting as Presiding Justice of the CA since August of 2007 (when the former Presiding Justice, Ruben Reyes, was promoted to Supreme Court) before he was appointed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as the new Presiding Justice in November 2007.

On the other hand, Justice Chico-Nazario holds the honor of being the first woman Justice in the Sandiganbayan and its first woman Presiding Justice. She started out as the social secretary of the late Secretary of Justice Juan Liwag after graduating from the University of the Philippines College of Law in 1962. She was appointed to the Supreme Court on February 10, 2004.

Born in San Miguel, Bulacan, Justice Nazario is the current president of the Philippine Women Judges Association. She was the Criminal Law Bar Examiner for the year 2000.

Justice Nazario was appointed Division Clerk of Court of the Sandiganbayan’s First Division and was appointed Regional Trial Court Judge of Binan, Laguna. She was also a professor of law at the University of Perpetual Help Las Pinas campus from 1994-1997. She has more than 40 years of uninterrupted service in government prior to her Supreme Court appointment. end of news

Vision

The UPH College of Law is the most accessible law school in the southern outskirts of Metro Manila. The school aims to be at par with the top Manila law schools. So as to be able to offer comparable legal education within the reach of those desirous of becoming lawyers, but are constrained because of the distance from the perceived top law schools.

Mission

It is the aim of the UPH College of Law to provide quality legal education and instill the Perpetualite creed that “Character building is Nation building” to future members of the legal profession. Our goal is to produce graduates who are armed with the necessary legal knowledge and competence which will enable them to hurdle the Bar Examinations; and thereafter become instrumental members of the legal profession who will exercise their duties in accordance with the ethical mandates of the legal profession founded on the virtues instilled in them as Perpetualites.
