Mission

To produce competent midwives with universal love and concern for newborn care who will efficiently assist women in their normal pregnancy, labor, delivery and puerperium with the utilization of the knowledge and skills relevant to global midwifery practice and guide them in the practice of responsible and safe motherhood.

Vision

To produce competent and dedicated graduates who have the sufficient knowledge to differentiate normal from abnormal pregnancy based on prenatal check-up and to provide sound advice/referral to the appropriate health care authority. Efficiently handle normal deliveries of the newborn with the utmost care of the parturient. Proficiently handle and provide newborn care and capably identify abnormalities and apply sufficient knowledge and skills relevant to the referral system. To provide emergency measures in adherence to the promulgation of the law especially in remote areas where health care facilities are not enough to serve the needs of the people. To facilitate individual or group educational campaign regarding family wellness.

Message

The School of Midwifery offers a two- year Diploma in Midwifery, which aims to produce skilled midwives who will uplift women’s health status and reproductive care by contributing in the Millenium Development Goals of significantly reducing maternal and child mortality, if not eradicating poverty by year 2015.

History

The school of Midwifery opened its door to the public in 1987 due to inquiries from different students from schools, parents, and representative from different communities. It started from the efforts of the faculty of the College of Nursing who are responsible for the creation of the two years and one summer midwifery curriculum. There were 17 seventeen students who are enrolled in the firsts semester in 1987. In 1990, the school had its first place in the Board Exams. After this year, the numbers of enrollees increased and the performance in the board exams were quite satisfactory. In 1994, there were modifications made and until 1997, the CHED issued memo no. 27 the two-year AHSE (Associate Health Science Education) PROTOTYPE curriculum requiring the health sciences courses like Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Medical Tech, Pharmacy Radiology, Allied courses and Midwifery must implement the curriculum. Student upon completion of two years will be given a CERTIFICATE with special order issued by the CHED and a year after a diploma in GRADUATE MIDWIFERY will be awarded to the students during the commencement day. It will be chance to take any BS Degree like nursing etc. So Since 1999 to date the Midwifery course has its three-year program. Last November 2000, we had our 100% performance in the board exams.

 
Achievement Report


In 1999, The School Garnered The First Placer In The Board Exams In The Name Of Miss Jennifer Forones, After This, She Enrolled In The College Of Nursing The School Aim Maintain Its Good Performance In The Board Of Midwifery.

In 1999, The School Adapted The Ahse Curriculum, Cmo 27, Series Of 1997 And To The Date Offering A Three Year Course In Midwifery With This Curriculum, The Students Were Challenge To Expert Their Effort In Achieving This Program.

In 2002-2004 The Principal Became The President Of Apsom Region Iv And Miss Mary Ann Lopez The Mw Ii Became The First Officer In The Apsom. Region Iv Students Group In 2007-2008, Miss Lopez Became The President Of Student Supreme Councel In Our Uph-Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University.

In 2005, November Board Exams Result Gave The School Its Third Placer Awards Given By The Board Of Midwifery In Manila Hotel With A Grade Of 91% Together With Oath Taking Of Our New Midwives. All Members Of The Board Were Present Spearheaded By Dr. Rogelio Mendiola, Chairman Of The Board Of Midwifery.

To Date, The School Had Above Performance In The Board

In 2007 To Date, Miss Pamela Ma. A First Year Student Become A Caduceus Member Writer In Our University Organ.

This 2008 With The New Bsm Curriculum Cmo No. 33 The School Will Offer Next 2009, To Help The Rm Develop Their Personal As Well As Their Professional Growth And Development

This New Bsm Curriculum Will Give The Graduate To Operate Its Own Lying In-Clinic With The Chance Of Tying Up With The School Of Midwifery And College Of Nursing, Be An Educator, Serve As Government Employee And Employed In Any Meternity Hospital.

The School Is Continuously doing The Mothers Class And Domiciliary Services In RHU II Pagkakaisa, San Antonio, Binan, Laguna.
