The UPHSL College of Maritime Education conducted a seminar entitled “Mental Health Awareness, Emotional Intelligence and Resilient Leadership” on February 16, 2021 with esteemed speakers from the maritime industry. Amongst of the speakers are; Mr. Miko Legaspi, a Certified Adventure Coach, Scholarship Manager and Online Facilitator; And, Mr. Bien Carlo Galapon, a Maritime DJ, RadioAtraka Host, and a certified USA Mental Health First Aid Responder. The webinar was participated by all currently enrolled maritime students, faculty and viewers who watched virtually via Facebook live.
Speakers highlighted some factors that may undermine the seafarers’ mental health and the importance of being a resilient seafarer onboard. The seminar aims to enhance the knowledge and awareness of participants particularly the students in coping with uncertainties to ensure that they are prepared for crisis in their field of endeavors.
